Project Title: Financial Crises: A Macroeconomic Study of Indian Banking Sector
Abstract of Project :
My current research is focused on understanding the dynamics of banking sector performance during financial crises. The financial market crisis has led to the collapse of major financial institutions. With the substantive increase in financial globalization and a high degree of trade integration across countries the impact is also being felt on India and other emerging market economies (EMEs). My research is concentrated on three issues namely: foreign operations of Indian banks in comparison with other EMEs banks, bank loan portfolio management and its impact on real economic variables, and to construct an econometric model for early warning for bank failures.
